Takes a different path on the Bay than other cruises

We took the 2 days 1 night trip with this cruise. The staff crew and the guide Tom are very friendly. Food was delicious. The boat is well decorated inside, very romantic. The boat takes a different path on the Bay than other cruises, so we are alone in the bay and that's perfect. All the activities (cooking, kayaking, fishing... ) are amazing and you will never forget this trip!

We booked the tour via groupon which bundled a hotel stay in Hanoi as well, so i can’t comment on the price of this tour. But me and my brother had a wonderful time on the alova gold cruise. Our tour guide, Peter, is very knowledgeable about his country. We had a wonderful time just hanging out and enjoying the scenery  There were kayaking and a tour of ti-top island and the caves. Our group also had a chance in trying to roll Vietnamese spring rolls.
I would say the food is nothing to rave about, but it is okay.
Overall i would say this agency is one of the good ones, as I’ve heard horror stories from my friends. Anyways, it’s all about realistic expectations my friends.

We took the 3 day tour and have a wonderful time with Kim and Lucky. I recommend doing three days because on the the second day they take you on a smaller boat and take you farther out were there is no one on site. The staff was great and friendly. It was our honeymoon and they made us a cake which was a great touch and much appreciated. Definitely recommend them.

We booked this company with our Hanoi hotel for a day trip to Halong Bay. Our guide Victor spoke very very good english he was very easy to understand, was very gentle natured, patient and extremely funny. We had a fantastic day enjoying the company of our fellow tourists from all over the world. The bus ride was long 3.5 hours each way but well worth the trip. The boat was suprisingly good the food was exceptional and plenty of it. The whole trip was extremely well organised and professional. Will definatley reccomend this trip and company to everyone we know and would even take the trip again ourselves next time we are in Hanoi. Fantastic Day. What we got for $39 USD each was 3.5 hour bus trip each way a bottle of water each way and a stop every 1.5 hours . A buffet lunch between 6 people table (that didnt all get eaten as there was so much food) A ferry ride to and around Halong Bay and a trip to the cave on the island(beautiful) Amazing value for money

This tour operator was chosen for us by a concierge at our hotel in Hue. We couldn’t have been happier. The tour guide “Peter” was very good! He made the trip enjoyable. He spoke slowly and tried to be clear with us. The drive to the bay was 3 hrs long with a touristy road stop half way. We were loaded onto our boat with ease. The boat was beautiful! The rooms were spacious enough and all had great views. The food was the best part of this package. Very tasty and beautifully presented! There was lots of room to move around. The viewing deck on top of the boat was very nice. We made several easy stops to beaches, pearl shops and a cave. We had our own tender being towed along with the boat so transfers to shore were simple. At night we tied up with the “sister” Alova boat and were able to socialize with the other travelers. We actually had quite a dance party going on! Peter and his co-hort from the other boat made this a great trip! I would recommend bringing your own large water bottle on board since you were only provided with one small bottle upon arrival. The cocktails were a little pricey but were definitely tasty. They had a nice wine selection. Our bartender did a great job of keeping track of all of our beverages. (Bring cash to pay your bill at the end of the trip though). I highly recommend Alova tours.

The tour is well organized, shows the main interest points and activities are fun.
The local guide was very interesting and we got the chance to personally discuss with him about the Vietnamese culture and how things really are in Vietnam outside of the tourist attractions.

Had a fabulous time with Alova Gold Cruises for two days and one night. The guide Nguyen Dinh Nghe (nickname Peter) made the difference from very good to great. His small lectures about Vietnam on the way to Halong Bay (3 1/2 hrs) made the time fly. He was knowledgeable  had a good sence of humor, and not least spoke very good and articulate english. The boat we arrived on for lunch had very good interior, was very well kept and I could not sense a spec of dust. The only thing that I could not understand was why in the world all boats were painted white, it would have looked much better with natural colors. Very good food throughout  aksept maybe lunch 2. day that might have been done with a little more style and quality of food. I also enjoyed the talk with the bartender/handyman (and about everything else) about everyday life in Vietnam. He also in fact spoke good English  The Bay was fantastic. I never imagined it to be like that. You have to see it to believe it. Only con was that it is in fact a very busy place with a total of about 500 boats. In other words a big tourist destination. But as long as I was on the boat I felt like I was almost alone in the Bay. It was only when you got off the boat that you noticed the hoards of people. The overnight cabin was spacious, had a very good bathroom and a very comfortable bed. All inn all I think this was the highlight of my trip to South-East Asia together with Angkor Wat in Cambodia. I really hope that the authorities in Vietnam will keep up Halong Bay and preserve it as one of the wonders of the world. Was in the end almost sad to leave Halong Bay. And if you go, go at least for overnight. To do this in one day would be to much stress in my opinion.

My wife & I took a 2 days 1 night cruise with 2 young kids. Having booked the cruise with much apprehension, we have no regrets having tried & experienced a beautiful scenery on the cruise. The cruise provides excellent food & clean facilities. The bedroom & deck were well maintained – clean & new…though the beds were harder than my preference. Safety is also good as life jackets were provided for young kids. Tom, our tour guide, was very dedicated & responsible.
